Scheduling Articles and the Content Calendar

You can write an article now and have it publish automatically later. The Calendar page shows everything that's published or scheduled, so you can plan a steady flow of content.

    Schedule an article

    1. Open the article and click Advanced, then the Advanced tab.
    2. Under Date Time Published, enter a future date and time. Or click Schedule Next Available to pick the next free day.
    3. Check that the status next to the save button now shows Scheduled. A future date switches a Published or Draft article to Scheduled automatically.
    4. Click Save changes, then Publish changes.
Advanced Article Options, Advanced tab with Date Time Published and Schedule Next Available
Advanced tab: publish date and scheduling

The editor then shows Article is scheduled to publish on followed by the date and time.

Don't use Save & Publish to schedule

Save & Publish always sets the status to Published instead of Scheduled. To schedule, use Save changes and then Publish changes.

Publish your edits before the date

The scheduled article goes live with its published content. Edits saved only to a working copy aren't included, so click Publish changes after each round of edits.

    Schedule Next Available

Schedule Next Available finds the first day, starting tomorrow, with no article already published or scheduled in the project. It sets the time to 9:00 AM in your time zone. Use it to publish one article a day without checking the calendar.

    How scheduled articles publish

HelpGuides checks for scheduled articles every minute. When an article's publish date has passed, its status changes to Published and it appears on your site and in search. You don't need to be signed in.

Until then, readers can't see the article. Signed-in team members can view it with Preview.

    Change or cancel a schedule

    • Change the date: set a new Date Time Published, then click Save changes and Publish changes.
    • Publish now: clear Date Time Published, choose Published in the status list, then click Save changes and Publish changes.
    • Cancel: clear Date Time Published, choose Draft in the status list, then click Save changes and Publish changes.
