Working with Files
In addition to adding images to articles, HelpGuides also support adding downloadable files.
Supported file types
Below are the supported file types:
- Microsoft Office (.doc, .docx, .xls, .xlsx, .ppt, .pptx)
- Apple (.pages, .numbers, .key)
- Adobe PDF (.pdf)
- Plain text (.txt)
- Compressed files (.zip, .gz, .tar)
Inserting a file
To insert a downloadable file use the plus icon or the slash and select file.
Similar to the image editor, either drag/drop or click to select a file to upload.
Additional file options
| Item | Description |
| File name | By default the file name will be the name of the uploaded file. |
| Download URL | Once uploaded the download URL will populate with the CDN URL provided by HelpGuides. Optionally you can provide your own URL. |
Unlike image, when a file is uploaded the name of the file is not changed. For example, uploading a file "mypresentation.pptx" will upload and store the file as "mypresentation.pptx".
